2021

LEARN: Attended MIT's Innovator's DNA executive education course. Rewarded executive education certificate for completing the Strategy & Innovation track.

WORK: Promoted to Senior Product Designer at Momentus.

WORK: Joined Basecamp as a Senior Product Designer.

 

2020

I made 2020 my year to build. I love shipping work and having it out in the wild.

LEARN: Completed MIT's Mastering Design Thinking executive education course.

WORK: Joined Ziva Dynamics as a contractor to support their IT and Operations teams.

DESIGN: Worked with clients at Momentus including Nestlé Waters. Led the discovery and designs for the ReadyRefresh mobile apps, launched November 2020.

DESIGN & DEVELOP: Led the design and development of the Tri-D Dynamics site before they got featured in the press, the site launched December 2020.

WORK: Started working remotely, created processes for running discovery workshops and design sprints remotely.

CONFERENCE: Attended Adobe Max remotely.

DESIGN: Fun side projects include designing spice labels for a fun kitchen project, branding for a home catering business, redesigning the logo and creating physical signage for Leaders of Tomorrow Academy.

VOLUNTEER: Joined the TEDxKerrisdale and TEDxYouth@GranviewHeights team as a designer and event faciliator. Designed branding and co-hosted 4 events, ensured we met the COVID guidelines when filming speakers on our TEDx stage.

2019

DESIGN: Worked with clients at Momentus including Shell, Barnes & Noble, Anthem Insurance, and others.

DESIGN: Took on AR design and development as a fun research side project as part of the innovation lab at Momentus.

WORK: Promoted to Intermediate UX/UI Product Designer at Momentus. Promoted to Technical Expert at Apple.

LEARN: Completed MIT's Digital Business Strategy: Harnessing Our Digital Future executive education course.

2018

DESIGN: Worked with clients at Momentus including Vancity, Signal, Shell, and others.

FEATURED: Designed an internal enterprise platform for Shell. From learning domain knowledge, designing UX and UI, and conducting user interviews. This project was featured in Satya Nadella’s 2018 Microsoft Ignite Vision Keynote. View on YouTube →

DESIGN: Experimented with conversational UI for voice and chat. Developed prototypes to test on Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. Led design workshops with clients to help determine when voice would make sense in their digital systems. Led an internal hands-on development workshop for designing and developing voice prototypes.

MENTOR: Led a Today at Apple session on web development and created the Product(RED) website from scratch to inspire attendees to try coding for the first time.

LEARN: Dive in and learn about AI. Completed MIT's Artificial Intelligence: Implications for Business Strategy executive education course.

CONFERENCE: Attended the Awwwards conference in San Francisco.

2017

LEARN: Graduated from the University of Greenwich with a BSc (Hons) in Digital Media Technologies, with First Class Honours.

AWARD: Awarded the Greenwich Global Mobility Scholarship from the University of Greenwich and Santander Universities to travel to Chile in July 2017 to learn intensive beginner's Spanish and learn about the Chilean culture.

FEATURED: Designed the Values of Leadership book for the Leaders of Tomorrow Academy. The book landed in the hands of Jack Ma!

WORK: Joined Momentus as a Product Designer, full-time. Joined Apple as a Technical Specialist, part-time.

DESIGN: Led the design and development of the Relativity Space site and managed all client communication during the project. The goal was to create the company website that stands out from the industry and reflect the Relativity brand. Read more →

2016

DESIGN: Completed my practicum as a UX Engineer at UrtheCast, a powerful Earth-imaging system for geospatial analysis. I designed an internal system to visualize and explain their message flow. From user research and user scenarios, to wireframes and then turning it into hi-fi prototypes before developing it in React. Read more →

LEARN: Graduated from BCIT with a Diploma, Digital Design and Development, with Distinction.

DESIGN: Joined Basecamp, a project management and internal communication software, as a product design intern for the summer. I learned Ruby on Rails and worked on a handful of projects in Basecamp 3 from A/B testing to experimenting and prototyping a feature from scratch. Read more →

CONFERENCE: Attended Google's Polymer Conference in London, England. Amazed at how so very few females attended!

LEARN: Chose web accessibility and gamification as my topics for my dissertation at the University of Greenwich to learn how to design and develop for all users.

DEVELOP: Experimented with VR development in Unity.

2013-2015

WORK: Joined Medeo, a healthcare technology startup that connected healthcare providers and patients through private video visits and secure messaging, to learn DevOps and IT admistration. Grateful to the Medeo team for letting me dive in and learn a variety of things from github, nginx, chef, setting up security cameras, Cisco Meraki, and so, so much more.

LEARN: Took on freelance design work for a bit and had encounted an issue with a client not paying me for the work I did for a couple months. Having already outlined the details and terms of getting paid, this was a key lesson in standing up for myself and knowing when to quit working with those who don't value their team.

DESIGN: Having done so much design for the web, it's always so fun and interesting doing print design. Researched French wine label design and designed and created our family's wine labels. Another print design project was to design the labels and packaging for three essential oil sets of Kama Naturals.

MENTOR: Since 2014, I've been volunteering at Ladies Learning Code and Kids Learning Code events in Vancouver as a technical mentor. The sessions I mentor ladies are in web development, the sessions for kids are in gamemaking with Scratch.

AWARD: Awarded the 2015 BC Technology Scholarship presented by the British Columbia Technology Industry Association.

2010-2012

DESIGN & DEVELOP: My first iOS app launched in the summer of 2010. In a span of two years, I designed and developed more than 40 iOS apps and 7 apps for Android. My goal was to make it easy for fans to keep up with their favourite fandoms. Founded my own company to house all my apps.

FEATURED: My iOS apps were #1 in the App Store 150 times, ranging everywhere from the #1 highest ranked and highest-grossing sports, news, entertainment, and reference apps, to the #1 overall paid and #1 overall free app as well.

LEARN: Combining my love for Disney and a way to keep up with Facebook pages, insights and analytics, I organically grew the Disney Quotes page to over 15,000 followers and had fun doing so.

LEARN & DESIGN: Joined TYE Vancouver in 2012-2013, a program for students to learn about the challenges and rewards of becoming an entrepreneur from seasoned entrepreneurs and mentors. For my project, I designed an ecosystem of a series of products designed to help individuals with diabetes live their lives easier and with less pain. This ecosystem offers a prickless, bloodless way to measure glucose and ketone levels. Read more →

DEVELOP: Since 2010, I've been a Webmaster and Recipe Taster at Fueling with Flavour. Help maintain the blog, fix bugs, manage ads, tweak the design of the templates we use, and I recreate my Mama's amazing recipes. I do it all for brownie points and, of course, actual brownies chocolate pudding and vla , and tiramisu! View the blog →

CONFERENCE: Got invited to attend Facebook's developer event in 2012, their only one ever in Vancouver. This was very eye-opening, I had no idea what a hackathon was and had never met a developer prior to this event. This conference led me to join Medeo.
